KS4 Combined Sciences

All our Key Stage 4 students are expected to take at least a double award in Science to ensure they leave us as scientifically literate citizens for an increasingly science and technology led society.  The GCSE course starts at the beginning of Year 9 and is developed as a spiral curriculum, revisiting key topics throughout Years 9, 10 and 11.

If a student chooses to take the GCSE Combined Science they will follow the AQA Combined Science : Trilogy Award leading to two GCSEs in Science at the end of Year 11.

Throughout, learning is encouraged through the use of a wide range of practical activities, research projects and independent exploration that enhances our students' observational, critical and analytical skills.  Our teachers guide the student's thinking and through on-going internal assessments are able to identify key areas for further support.

Further support is offered through highly focussed revision sessions after school for those that seek extra support.

Final GCSE examinations are taken at the end of Year 11 and an overall grade is given for the dual award.

Further information on the course can be found at;
